RABAC: RAB and Cardiology

Cardiac disease is as big a problem in developing nations as developed nations, however there is little access to training, education, or resources to address it. With this in mind, RAB commenced our own cardiac teleconferencing program which started in 2023, covering some core topics in cardiology.

Dr. Abhisheik Prashar

Dr. Abhi Prashar, FRACP, is an accomplished Interventional, Structural, and General Cardiologist. He completed his cardiology training at St George Hospital in 2020 and earned fellowship status at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr. Prashar pursued advanced sub-specialty training in coronary and structural heart interventions at renowned institutions including St George Hospital (Sydney), Austin Hospital (Melbourne), and King’s College Hospital (London).

His clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of areas within cardiology, including chest pain assessment, coronary angioplasty, intravascular imaging with IVUS and OCT, and advanced techniques like transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and transcatheter edge-to-edge-repair (TEER) for valvular heart diseases. He is also proficient in procedures such as patent foramen ovale closure, atrial septal defect, and left atrial appendage occlusion. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Prashar is deeply committed to medical research and education. He has contributed extensively to leading cardiology journals and holds a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney. Dr. Prashar is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of New South Wales.
