Evidence for low dose effects

Mathew et al (2013) studied 680,000 children who had been subject to a CT scan (average dose 4.5 mSv) and compared their risk of cancer with 10,900,000 children who had no CT scan. This showed that the risk of subsequently getting cancer increased by about 16% (13% to 19%) for each additional CT scan. Their data are shown on the adjacent image
