Dr Vinicius Carraro do Nascimento

He completed his medical studies at the Federal University Foundation of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2010 and moved to Australia to become a diagnostic and interventional radiologist.

After becoming a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2019, he relocated to New Zealand completing a one-year fellowship in interventional radiology. From May 2020 to May 2022, he completed an additional fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at Gold Coast University Hospital, where he works as a consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist.

Dr Vini’s main interests are acute stroke and intracranial aneurysm treatment. He is a reviewer for several journals, including Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery and Neuroradiology

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the principles of CT brain perfusion in the setting of acute ischaemic stroke
  2. Emphasise the benefits of CT brain perfusion, particularly in the setting of medium vessel occlusion (MeVo) and small / distal vessel occusion
  3. Be able to identify and interpret pitfalls in CT brain perfusion
